We propagate everything we sell, in-house, grown from seed and rooted cuttings sourced from quality orchards and improved selections. We don't buy and resell plants like the large online nurseries — every plant starts here, on our Maine property, and we're actively growing, observing, and culling as we go.

Fruiting shrubs are some of the most productive and low-maintenance plants a northern grower can add to their property. Elderberry, aronia, hazelnut, serviceberry — these are plants that thrive on neglect once established, and reward you with harvests year after year.

We source from improved selections and quality native stands, always with an eye toward cold hardiness and productivity for the backyard grower in the north.

I planted them on the same day they were picked up at Hobbs in early November this year. 2025, We can do a follow up review in the spring as to how they take. I enjoyed the trip to the nursery and like to shop Maine Local whenever possible.

I finally planted my elderberry plants 2 weeks after I got them! Because of the weather and the biggest snowstorm of the year I couldn’t get them right in! I kept them in a cool place and when I opened them up they looked great! Starting to bud out and the roots looked phenomenal! Thank you for such quality plants and the extras 😉

Tree arrived quickly, and was larger than I was expecting. Has been in the ground for a few weeks now and is doing great--the deer are leaving it alone for now and it's already putting on a lot of growth! Very happy with this little plant!
