I planted them on the same day they were picked up at Hobbs in early November this year. 2025, We can do a follow up review in the spring as to how they take. I enjoyed the trip to the nursery and like to shop Maine Local whenever possible.
The Hazelnut tree came on time without any issues, I was able to get it transplanted to its permanent spot as soon as I could and look forward to watching its growth!

I finally planted my elderberry plants 2 weeks after I got them! Because of the weather and the biggest snowstorm of the year I couldn’t get them right in! I kept them in a cool place and when I opened them up they looked great! Starting to bud out and the roots looked phenomenal! Thank you for such quality plants and the extras 😉

Tree arrived quickly, and was larger than I was expecting. Has been in the ground for a few weeks now and is doing great--the deer are leaving it alone for now and it's already putting on a lot of growth! Very happy with this little plant!

We're a bare-root nursery, so trees travel while they're dormant. Here's what happens after you order.

Order online
Order any time of year. Your plants are set aside for you as soon as you check out.

We wait for dormancy
Trees ship only while they're dormant and the ground can be worked, usually November and April. Seeds and scions ship through fall and winter as orders come in.

Dug, checked and packed
We dig your plants, check every one, trim tall grafted trees to fit the box, and pack the roots in sawdust or shredded paper, reusing packing materials when we can.

Flat-rate shipping: $19.99, or $29.99 with grafted trees or larger seedlings, and $14.99 for scions only. Free on orders of $200 or more.
Picked up at the farm
Choose local pickup at checkout. We'll email when it's ready to set a time, usually a Saturday. Please come by appointment only.

Unpack and plant
Open the box right away and check that everything arrived in good shape. Plant as soon as you can. Need a few days? Keep the roots moist. Longer? Heel the plants in for a week or two.
