(Corylus americana)
American Hazelnut (aka American Filbert) is a round multi-stem shrub native to North America. It is very tough and adaptable to a wide variety of conditions. Quick to bear (often in its 2nd or 3rd year) and producing abundant crops of sweet tasting nuts loved by humans and animals alike. Wind pollinated so several should be planted in close proximity to ensure a good crop. Great choice for a hedgerow or windbreak. (zone 4)
