Custom bench grafts:

Have an old apple tree in decline you want to save? Have a favorite plum tree you'd like more of? Perhaps a pear thats been grown on the farm for generations?

Send us your scion wood in the winter and we will graft new trees to hardy rootstock, grow them in our nursery for a growing season, and ship the yearling whips back to you for fall or spring planting. 

Top-working: 

Have an existing apple, pear or plum tree? Wished it was a more productive? More disease resistant? More vigorous?

For our local customers in the mid-coast, we offer top-working services in the spring (winter is the time to acquire scion wood so please inquire early!).

Top-working is a method of changing a fruit tree over to a different variety (or varieties). This is often done in commercial fruit production where a variety may fall out of favor and a newer one proves to be more profitable.

Rather than rip the well established root systems out of the ground and wait for a new tree to size up and start fruiting, you can just graft the variety of choice to the existing trees and get fruit from the new variety more quickly.
